Attractions
Robin Hoods Sherwood Forest is 20 mins by car,
with forest walks, the Great Oak, a visitor centre with
permanent displays, or purchase the CD based Robin Hood
Trail for a self tour around his infamous haunts.

Visit
the Tuxford Windmill (5m) and take the tour to see a
real working windmill operated by a real miller, then try some
of the produce in the tea shop before buying from the range of
top quality, hand milled products.
Or try a little further a field
to the Watermill at Ollerton, a working water mill with
a museum and the no1 tea shop in Britain as awarded by the
British Tea Council, but its best to book in busy periods. |
| Gainsborough
Old Hall in nearby Gainsborough is on the
route of the Pilgrim Trail, a self guided tour
of the Pilgrim Fathers, founders of modern day
America. The Retford Museum, recently
refurbished is also part of the tour, don't
miss the ancient fishing boat or the room of
yesteryear. |

Clumber
Park with its beautiful lake at the centre is one of the largest
parks in Europe with miles of tracks for cycling and walking
as well as housing a visitor centre and cafe. Bikes can
be hired from the bike hire centre by the main National
Trust house. Nearby is the Rufford estate with its house and
grounds to explore.
| Retford
is the nearest town (4m) with many attractive Georgian
and Victorian buildings and a fine market square with
impressive Town Hall. It has a good market on Thurs,
Fri & Sat, a
range of traditional shops, farmers markets once a month and arty shops as
well as some excellent modern stores. There is a town
walk, a museum and several theatres, including
the Majestic. Supermarkets include Morrisons on
the ring road to the North of the town. |

Lincoln
is about 20 minutes drive away from the holiday home and is wonderful place to
spend a day or so. From the olde worlde shops on 'The
Steep'
to the large Castle and Cathedral.
Newark
has a Castle with open air concerts some Sunday afternoons,
river trips to see the wildlife and a multitude of Tea shops
and Restaurants including a floating pub! A must when
visiting the holiday home.

Southwell
is an interesting city and is the smallest Cathedral city in
the UK.

The
local church in Clayworth is home to the Tranquir
Murals. These spectacular paintings are the largest of
their kind in the East of England. |
| Long
distance walks include The Chesterfield Canal,
The
Trent Valley Way and The Robin Hood Way. A national
cycle route passes the door. |

Warner Bros multi
screen cinemas can be found in Lincoln and
Doncaster.
Superbowl
is available in Lincoln and Doncaster.
Trent Port family
restaurant in Gainsborough, approx 6 miles from the holiday
home has a Brewster Bear Activity
Centre.
There are indoor
play facilities in Lincoln and Gainsborough. (The Play
Barn in Lincoln is to be recommended as it caters
for all ages including adults!!!)
Retford,
Gainsborough and Doncaster have
Leisure Centres. The Dome at Doncaster is the largest in the
north east and offers a Lagoon pool; ice-skating and a
climbing wall.
The East Coast
resorts of Skegness, Cleethorpes
etc are approx 1hr away.
There are Golf
Courses at Retford, Gainsborough, Lincoln, Market
Raisen, Mansfield, Worksop, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham
& Newark. Rufford Park has Golf Days.
Horse Racing
makes a great fun day out for a group and you will be pleased
to know that Lincoln,
Southwell, Market Raisen, Doncaster and Nottingham are all
accessible. There
are 9 Golf courses within a short drive including at Retford
and Gainsborough. The Trent offers some excellent fishing or
there are a variety of lakes and canals that may be fished.

large holiday home is an ideal location for a weekend away
with a group, or for a longer holiday to explore the
beautiful North Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire areas.
We are located between Lincoln, Nottingham
and Doncaster, the house is easily accessed via
Retford, just
off the main A1 trunk route, with Lincoln (25mins) Nottingham (50mins) Leeds
(55mins) London (2hrs).
The 'North East Line' train line,has a direct
service to nearby
Retford
(1.5hrs to London Kings Cross).
Robin Hood Airport
